I decided on my way home from visiting a client in the Gold Coast hinterland that I would take the alternate route to the M1 and try and pop back in somewhere around Currumbin to avoid the afternoon traffic.

That didn’t seem to be working out too well as I began heading towards Murwillumbah which is overshooting our place by about 20 k’s.

But things sometimes don’t appear as they seem…..

As it turns out, golden hour makes for some stunning views along the edge of the ranges and through the valleys past the Natural Arch, and through the numerous and quaint small towns bordering QLD and NSW.

It was a particularly serene afternoon and just after passing a spectacular cane fire, I passed this small area where you can gain access to the Tweed River, just outside of Tumbulgum. The sheer beauty of the scene caused me to double back and take a couple of shots.

Luckily I had my Canon 5D Mark II with USM, EF50mm f/1.4 USM lens on board.
